How to clean dip pens

Bare minimum: rinse with warm water. However, if you are a high-frequency user of dip pens, nibs do benefit from extra TLC.

Would using some type of a brush to scrub the nibs possibly damage them?

Am I supposed to be doing this? I just throw it in a cup of water and come back after five minutes and they look fine

This is too much work. Sometimes I just like to sit down for 5 minutes and doodle but don't want to clean it every single time. At least this thoroughly.
