Climate Action 8x8: Understanding Emissions
With Carbon Analyst Danny Chivers

Eliminating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is imperative to keeping global temperature rise as close to 1.5 degrees celsius as possible. In line with Paris Accord targets, the art sector must cut emissions by at least 50% by 2030. In this video, Danny Chivers, climate researcher, carbon footprint specialist, and adviser to Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) presents emissions, the activities that generate them, and the most effective steps art organizations can take to prevent harmful emissions in the first place. Danny demonstrates how easy it is to use the Carbon Calculator on the GCC website. Halving our GHG emissions this decade is absolutely possible–and this video shows how.

Speaker: Danny Chivers is a carbon analyst, author, and performance poet. He is an environmental adviser to the Gallery Climate Coalition and the author of GCC’s “Decarbonizaton Action Plan: A Step-By-Step Carbon Reduction Strategy for the Art Sector.” Chivers’s numerous other publications include No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change (2011) and No-Nonsense Renewable Energy (2015).

A+CA monthly community meeting is co-hosted with Galleries Commit (NY).
