Season 5, Episode 26: "The Saga of Muley Jones" Unfortunately, his singing voice is so powerful that it can shatter glass and rattle anything solid. Meanwhile, the sheriff is hunting for two moonshiners (Jesse White and Strother Martin) who are selling their own booze to various drinking places. Despite the fact that Muley appears to be as stupid as he is, he assists the sheriff in a way that... well, just listen.

Lake Hemet, a reservoir in Riverside County, California's San Jacinto Mountains, served as the location for the first season's opening sequence before being transferred to Lake Tahoe. Following the move to Lake Tahoe, the opening theme-music sequence was shot at Bourne's Meadow, which is close to Round Hill, Nevada, on the lake's east shore. Extra horses were hired from the Idyllwild Stables in Idyllwild, which is located in the San Jacinto Mountains, for the inaugural season. The original Virginia City set, which was situated on a Paramount backlot and appeared in episodes of Have Gun, Will Travel, Mannix, and The Brady Bunch, was utilized on the program until 1970.
