Polar Bear Purrs When Cuddling with Her Human Dad

An adult polar bear named Agee has an unusually close bond with Mark Dumas, the man who has hand-raised her since she was a cub. They swim together and cuddle. She even purrs like a cat when he's near.

He was only being humble when he said, he cannot know if she loves him or not.
You can tell it hurt him to say it too, because it's hard for him to imagine that she couldn't.
That's a real bond.

She's still going well, and recently retired to Assiniboine zoo. She's actually a year and a half older than me! Most Polar Bears in captivity don't usually live past 15-18 years. She's turning 29 in early January! She was clearly well-loved and had a pampered life 💕

Notice how Mark never reaches out and "pets" her or tries to cuddle her like a pet. He taught her not to use her paws on him.

When I was 5 years old I was very impressed by a massive stuffed polar bear I saw on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City NJ. When I was interviewed by Sister Mary Claire before I started first grade she asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said I wanted to be a polar bear. At that stage of my life it was the most impressive thing I had ever seen, so it made sense to me.
