Lygeri - Α song - mourning
During the massacre of Chios in 1822
Turks arrived here in the village of Anavato,
on top of rocks and at an altitude
of 450 meters above sea level.
Girls and young women cuddling with their children
fall from the terrible ravine,
(next to the church of tTaxiarchis),
as not to fall into the hands of the slaughterers ..
Few years after the slaughter,
this song poured out of the local people's souls.

Their soul that refuses to accept the loss of the girls,
by inviting them to dance on the shore
holding and cuddling with their babies

A tribute to the sacrificial offering of the girls of Anavatos,
in the name of Freedom

H Λυγερή -Πρόκειται για τραγούδι – θρήνο
Κατά τη διάρκεια της σφαγής της Χίου το 1822
οι Τούρκοι έφθασαν και εδώ στο χωριό Ανάβατο,
χτισμένο στην κορυφή των βράχων και σε υψόμετρο
450 μέτρων από τη θάλασσα.
Οι κοπέλες και οι νέες γυναίκες αγκαλιά με τα παιδιά τους
καταγκρεμίζονταν από την φοβερή χαράδρα,
που ειναι δίπλα από την εκκλησία των Ταξιαρχών ,
για να μην πέσουν στα χέρια των σφαγέων..
Μερικά χρόνια μετά την σφαγή ,
μέσα από τη λαϊκή ψυχή των ανθρώπων ξεχύθηκε αυτό το τραγούδι.

Η λαϊκή ψυχή που αρνείται να δεχτεί το χαμό των κοριτσιών ,
γιαυτό καλεί τις κοπέλες να χορέψουν στον γιαλό φορτωμένες
με τα δισάκια τους και αγκαλιά με τα παιδιά τους..

Αυτό το τραγούδι-θρήνο, η χορωδία Χίου
το καταθέτει φόρο τιμής στην θυσίαστική προσφορά των κοριτσιών του Αναβατου,
στην Ελευθερία του τόπου μας...
