Audi A3 ignition barrel removal

How to remove your ignition barrel from a 2006 a3 when experiencing key will not turn issue.

-Remove the plastic around the column first
-Key ignition to “on” do not start
-insert a 1.5mm allen key into grove on side of barrel
-pull out barrel with key

How the hell did you get the ignition lock out

There is usually no problem with the outer part shown here. The problem is usually a broken part of the steering wheel lock, which requires the whole barrel to be removed and disassembled. Just remove everything related to the steering lock. You have to drill out a plug hiding a spring.

So i have a similar issue. Theres no steering lock and i can just about get my key to turn to bring power to the stereo but no dashboard. Help me 😬
