I'm pretty sure they put Gagnam Style in this movie at the last moment as they realized that this movie had nothing and that it wouldn't stay in people's memory for long. Moreover, Gagnam Style was already two years old when this movie came out and people had already moved on to something else so that I felt old listening to it in 2014 when I fell in love with it for an AMV on Gumball; they probably started working on the film in 2012 and were planning to release it around that time
