Roberta Flack - Feel Like Makin' Love (Remastered)

3rd track from "The Very Best Of Roberta Flack" (2006). Originally the 5th track from "Feel Like Makin' Love" (1974). When I learned last autumn there was a remastered version of this sweet, jazzy, R&B classic but that it wasn't on YouTube, I knew I had to remedy the situation. But after uploading it, I found it was blocked worldwide due to copyright claims. But now the block is lifted—at least for now. So enjoy it while you can, folks! These things tend to come and go.

The remastered version is a welcome addition for lovers of smooth, in particular because the original version was recorded at low volume/bass levels and lacks the sonic oomph necessary to fit comfortably into a playlist of more recently recorded songs. The compilation CD includes several other remastered hits as well, and AllMusic reviewer Rob Theakston says it's "easily the best retrospective of her work available to date." So yay—way to go, Rhino!

Back then in the 70's We just took brilliant music like this for granted. Year after year classic records came out, whoever thought it would end? We didn't know how lucky we were.

THIS is the vibe that separates the 70s from all other decades. I usually listen to much louder, more aggressive music, but the vibe here reminds me how cool it was to have been a kid in the 70s. By the early 80s, it was practically gone and I feel like I knew that even then becoming a teen. I'm so glad there's so many songs from the 70s that can take you right there, right away. I would have liked to have had a better family situation, but I wouldn't trade growing up in the time period I did for anything.

The 70's was the greatest musical era achievements. When you listen to bass lines playing, arrangements, harmonies you can't deny the simple things what music is all about.

Perfect lyrics...ultra smooth musicality...the best of Americas era. 1974....I was 28 and thought I was painfully in Love...completely and romantically....dewy eyed and vulnerable. Oh, to go back to those carefree times..city parks, safe streets, rain splashed gutters, street lights....Wow, , , , where is my time machine....Roberta's voice just brings it all

You know what I enjoy even more than this song. Browsing the comments and reading everybody reminiscing about the great times they had while this song was playing.

There's just a crispness and sharpness to Roberta's pinpoint phrasing that cuts to the chase and leaves its mark on your heartstrings. A once in a lifetime voice probably never duplicated again. Sing it, Roberta !
