i believe it is as Morpheus said, "a singular conciousness that spawned an entire race of machines"

I thought it was supposed to be implied that it is the gestalt consciousness of the machines. It’s the representation of the collective hivemind.

Deus-Ex Machina (In my opinion) is the entire network of the Matrix. Each "machine" in the matrix is one part of the entire system. Each "program" is a part of a machine.
I hope I explained that correctly.

Deus Ex Machina is basically the physical human-machine interface to deal with any people not within the Matrix. Same as The Architect is the human-machine interface within the simulation, but I think they are two different systems that collaborate with each other in order to keep the human race under control. Deus Ex Machina and The Architect both knew that Neo had escaped the Matrix, but The Architect failed in his mission to stop Neo, so Deus Ex Machina had to deal with him.

The face is like the Wizard of Oz. A front for the man behind the curtain—ooh.

The issue with saying Deus Ex Machina is the same as the architect is that when Neo said “I would hope we don’t meet again” and he replies “We won’t”

yeah and when Neo is looking out of his window in matrix resurection he sees the birds swarming and it triggers some memories of Deus Ex Machina

I think you are correct that it is the mainframe. There are so many virtual programs. The only physical ones we see are basically drones. When "baby face" shows up, it is built from tiny bots to interact with Neo. We have to forget that a machine/ai isn't like ourselves.
I think "baby face" is not exactly in charge but definitely the embodiment of all sentient machines. It is the end all, be all. But that's just my thoughts.

I just realized that the gold code is enlighten, Neo is enlightened after getting his eyes blinded.

Deus Ex Machina and the Architect. As above so below.

The architect actually hints at what Deus Ex Machina is.

The baby face is in effort to deter Neo from attacking it. The architect notes that Neo is genuinely capable of experiencing love- true love, on a personal level.

The architect understood that Neo was wanting Trinity for life.

There is also Neo's interaction with the Sun Program (the little girl). He too, wanted a child.

Enter the baby face. Neo at that point was capable of destroying the machines even outside of the Matrix (the real world). Neo was guessed to refrain from preemptive harm and listening to the hive in order to make a deal.

Deus Ex and the Architect had to make a deal with Neo in order to flush out the overtaking virus known as Agent Smith.

I believe the Dues Ex Machina is the first original AI that gained self-awareness and began the race of sentient machines. We know that the machines are all interconnected and linked. I believe that Dues Ex Machina acts as a queen in a hive.

A "Deus Ex Machina" sign on the wall doesn't have to indicate DEM is still in control behind the scenes. It doesn't have to be a declaration of DEM's power and identity and property and branding.

It could just as easily be a trophy. An animal's head put on display by the hunter who killed it.

I felt when Neo chose to faced Deus Ex Machina in the machine city he was under the assumption that there may be more Smiths wondering the waking world. He had to go back in and destroy Smith's code permanently. He already knew programs could survive the Matrix resets. I think he went there because he had to destroy to original Smith code that he helped crated when he jump into Smith at the end of the first movie. As the creator he was the only one who could destroy it. If there were any more Smiths in the waking world other people could take care of them in due course.

Deus Ex Machina and their city looking yellow reminded me of Seraph...Makes sense theyre the first machines created and Seraph was in the first matrix cycle right?

The woman who apparently wrote Terminator and the Matrix states that The Matrix is a sequel to Terminator and the robots actually won and we’re seeing the aftermath of their victory in The Matrix.

John Conor is Neo, who in turn is supposed to represent Christ coming back and saving humankind. It makes sense when you hear how she explains how both films storylines connect!

I feel like it's the singularity, the first and the last machine. all other machines are just pieces of it

I think deus ex is separate from architect cause when neo got to it at the end before the last fight it seemed like the machina didn’t know why neo was there
