Polyglot Gathering Opening Evening

Dr P is back in Bratislava for some daily vlogging from the sixth Polyglot Gathering. In the first episode: arrival, dinner and the opening ceremony. Gatherers share their expectations and excitement of the event to come. First of five.

I know what you need at your event: a ceilidh with calling in a different language for every dance! Ceilidhs are great mixers. I’ve actually played for Welsh folk dance for years and picked up a great deal of vocabulary this way, hearing the instructions and seeing the corresponding actions followed out. It was especially useful leading up to the Urdd Eisteddod as the same dances would be rehearsed over and over, so the phrases got really bedded-in for me.
