Egmont, Opus 84, is incidental music consisting of an overture and nine parts for soprano, reciter and large orchestra composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, intended for Goethe's play Egmont. The story and heroism of Count Egmont provided Beethoven with the opportunity to exalt the sacrifice of the man condemned to death for standing up against the oppressor. We mainly remember the famous Overture in F minor. The rest of the partition, consisting of nine numbers, is rarely performed in its entirety. Masterful, the Overture « Sostenuto, ma non troppo – Allegro » condenses the main themes of the work, largely inspired by Goethe’s piece. The orchestra takes up other motifs such as those of Love or Revolt, and ends in apotheosis with the theme of the Symphony of Victory, this time in tonality F major. It reports the death of the Count who, until the end, resists the oppressor. An unclassifiable composer, Beethoven left his mark on the history of music. Freeing himself from classical rules, he opened new perspectives in musical composition and laid the foundations of romanticism in music. His ardent temperament, his gift for improvisation and his incredible ability to compose even though made him a legendary character. *Lucien*

Sounds a little different from other performances. All the more beautiful. Beethoven is the acme of the music world.
