Etrian Odyssey 1 HD: Alraune

Pain does not begin to describe this boss.

She hits super hard with all of her attacks, and even her basics are a one shot without any defensive measures. It took a good few tries before I finally got a successful run at this point. Unlike most other bosses, she's super resistant to binds, so that's not a reliable way of shutting her down.

First order of business, get an elemental resistance buff up ASAP! Any one will do, Immunize, or one of the Troubadour's elemental resistance songs. This will stop her from using Pollen, which will try to inflict every single status at once on your entire party. Not fun. The buff you chose (if it wasn't immunize) will stop her from using an attack of that element until she drops below 50%. I'd advise using Taranis as Lightning is the most painful of her attacks to deal with, though I misclicked and accidentally set up Ymir instead. Oh well, I guess it worked out in the end.
