Sam you should try to get your 3rd shot to the yardage that you hit your club, whichever it is instead of doing all these trick shots to get close. Like for the 7 iron if you hit it 170 then you want your 3rd shot to be from 170. I guarantee that you will put it closer on your approach shot if you do that. Full swings have height and spin and are much easier to judge.
