I have two. Both manual. One and one rwd. They've been really reliable. Straight sixes are easy to work on. I do all the maintenance and fixes.

Another problem is the heat and air condition fan under the dashboard. But it's easy to fix. Keep going brother your are in right way.

One thing i learned over 20 years ago with my e36, these cars are over engineered to fail certain parts to bring you into the stealership.

Thank you my man! Totally appreciate the info on these common fixes. I am actually in process of buying a friends 2007 bmw 328xi. It has been sitting for a while and I haven’t gotten a chance to get a new battery to test it out. This car currently has a recall, I believe for the same defects you mentioned about the leaks. The dealership here in my area is going to take care of it. I’m really trying to make a final decision about the car. It looks well maintained but definitely need more research and a test drive.

Use Pennzoil ultra platinum euro 5w40. My lifters don't tick anymore. Great oil.

Thank you Jonathan, for the video. I now know what to look out for in these cars as I’ll be getting myself one soon. Going to sell what I have and use that as a down payment to cover half, maybe a little more. Get it on a good rate for a year to boost my credit score

Got a bmw a few weeks ago. Immediately had to replace valve cover gasket, spark plugs, coils, and oil filter housing gasket. Pissed out oil like a race horse. Waiting for the parts have been the main issue

Check the ID plate under the hood to see which engine it is because the N51 IS NOT THE SAME AS THE N52 the N51 is the SULEV Check to see if the extended warranty is available because the OEM parts are 3-4 times more expensive than the N52

Just got my rear main seal and coolant hose done 😅 it's crazy to see that the N46 has similar problems to the N52

Vanos Codes for in/ex solenoids…. There is a screw on the side of the motor. That is a check valve behind them. Those need to be cleaned and make sure the check valve is working correctly. Very seldom does the solenoid go bad they need to be cleaned, but those check valves are most important.

Tha ka for the video. Just bought a 2011 328i yesterday. Has right at 99k. Engine looks and runs smooth but I will be paying attention to these things.

Great information Jonathan. U.K. suffers with this, on the 325i N53 to. But it’s all fixable. Wear and tear items. But the fun, drive, enjoyment of owning and driving a bmw outweighs this, eh! U.K. supports you. Get a red carpet on your driveway!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
