Raisin Squares (1982) & Fruit Wheats (1986)

Kellogg's SQUARES brand offered shredded wheat biscuits with either raisin, apple cinnamon, strawberry or blueberry in the middle. This cereal was criminally underrated and way better than Frosted Mini-Wheats with Touch of Fruit in the Middle. Thankfully they still sell Raisin Squares over in the UK.

This was my favorite cereal as a kid, including both brands and all varieties, and it's also my favorite Cereal Time episode because of all the content you were able to dig up and include on this.

When Kellogg's released the filled Mini Wheats, it was a real let-down because of the frosting on the outside (unnecessary) and the minimal amount of filling in the middle. Kashi Berry Fruitful is a much closer match to Fruit Wheats, and I wish Kashi would release more flavors of this amazing cereal.

Oh man! I would do anything to taste strawberry fruit wheats again! I remember they had a substantial amount of filling in them. Seeing that commercial with the kid and the wizard made me feel like a kid again for a split second.

Thanks for bringing back the “raisin in the middle” song. As adolescents, we would sing the jingle with all sorts of repulsive things replacing the raisin in the middle.

Shredded Wheat (the big log kind) was my favorite cereal as a child, believe it or not! My new favorite was the Raisin Squares when they came along. Also the original commercial was one of my all-time favorite most memorable cereal jingles (of which there are many, and I often go youtube hunting for them!) I believe that little girl in the ad is a young Kelli Martin. I wish I could get a box of these!!

I remember eating and enjoying Fruit Wheats cereal as a child. I guess I haven't changed that much, because I now eat plain Shredded Wheat with fruit mixed in.

I was disappointed that I never saw the second part of the multi-part commercial. I'm guessing that the advertising budget was cut.
