I think the choir makes it so much better, I love it!

I love Michael Arden. However, not a huge fan of the choir. It sounds nice, but I feel it takes away from the intimacy of the piece. Rather than being a moment in time where we see his thoughts and ambitions, it's become more of this big song when it doesn't really need that. I personally found the beauty of the piece in how deceptively simple it was on the surface, but much deeper within. Long story short, I feel it takes away from that emotional depth

I don't know about you guys, but I think the choir in this version really compliments Arden's vocals. This is a beautiful, moving, emotional song. Great job, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk!

I agree with you. I've heard this song sung by lots of folks, including Matt Doyle and Aaron Tveit (who's great in Les Miz), but I also think Michael Arden owns this song. :)

A choir does not work in this piece. This is a heartfelt song sung by one to one. I found the choir quite intrusive, which forced Michael to reach his peak too early. I still think Michael is an incredible singer/performer and he has the definitive version of this song (the Laurie Beechman performance). But it's good to hear Michael sing this song again.

@seuss101 I couldn't agree more. This arrangement overwhelms the music, and at times forces Michael to push to rise above them. That, it just isn't in character with the intimacy of the moment, as you say. There is no doubt that Michael Arden is the owner of this piece, but I will return to the solo version found elsewhere on YouTube over this one any day.

The solo version of this, that Michael did a few years later, is far superior. Perhaps the audio isn't translating through a camera microphone very well, and it was better live, but it sounds like they aren't blending with Michael terribly well, making him have to push a bit too hard to get over the top of them. The song loses its emotional intensity when it's not a solo. The later recording Michael did of this song was done more professionally, in terms of camera and recording equipment - which helps make it look/sound like a better version as well.

and there i was thinking that aaron tveit's performance of this song would forever be my favourite... now i really dont know... his hesitation is very interesting, and the choir builds it well. great piece

I love the acting on this version. I like him better when he sings alone though.

I actually prefer the simple piano and him to this...

If the choir toned down a bit it could be a really nice addition. I really just wanted to hear Michael on that last high note, no one sings this song like him! :)

An emotional and moving portrayal of a young man opening his heart and laying bare his feelings. This was great. Until it turned into Glee. Please rename 'How to completely destroy emotional intensity and intimacy with the audience and drown out your lead performer'.

You literally can't even hear Michael at some points. No to the choir.

@JKVideos - I agree! I'm not sure what was going on with some of those choral parts. I mean.. I still love the song but this is too much. LoL.
