Εἰνοδίην Ἑκάτην κλῄιζω, τριοδῖτιν, ἐραννήν,
οὐρανίην, χθονίαν τε, καὶ εἰναλίην κροκόπεπλον,
τυμβιδίην, ψυχαῖς νεκύων μέτα βακχεύουσαν,
Πέρσειαν, φιλέρημον, ἀγαλλομένην ἐλάφοισιν,
νυκτερίην, σκυλακῖτιν, ἀμαιμάκετον βασίλειαν,
ταυροπόλον, παντὸς κόσμου κληιδοῦχον ἄνασσαν,
ἡγεμόνην, νύμφην, κουροτρόφον, οὐρεσιφοῖτιν,
λισσόμενοις κούρην τελεταῖς ὁσίαισι παρεῖναι
βουκόλῳ εὐμενέουσαν ἀεὶ κεχαρηότι θυμῷ.

Hecate of the crossroads I call, of the three roads, lovely,
heavenly, earthly and of the sea, saffron-robed,
funereal, among the souls of the dead revelling,
Persian, solitude-loving, delighting in deer,
nocturnal, guardian of dogs, indomitable queen,
drawn by bulls, key-holder, mistress of all the world,
ruler, young bride, nurturer of children, haunter of mountains,
maiden attending on our hallowed rituals,
ever gracious to the herdsman with sacred incense.
