In this video I perform a mite wash and find out a colony is dealing with a high mite load. I take action on that hive with Mite Away Quick Strips.

I'm really enjoying your videos. I follow a bunch of good youtube beekeepers. But for some reason most of what I've been watching on your channel really applies to the challenges I seem to be dealing with! I'm in Hawaii and this is my third year beekeeping. Thanks!

With my climate I am able to treat my bees late winter during low brood to knock the winter mite levels down before spring build up. I treat them starting mid august to get them ready for winter bees. I like to have two brood cycles after treatment to get the healthiest bees going into winter.

so if it is so dangerous would you not take away any honey supers you have on the hive and shake the bees out of them then put the supers on another healthy hive in the yard? so you dont contaminate your honey with it or is doing that a bad thing?

Good video I foged beginning of May to get a jump start on them. Where exactly do mites come from ?? can't find a good answer

I ordered some bee furniture in a kit package. It included some plastic drone foundation. Does it help control mites ?

If you have varroa hygienic bees like I do, you will see increased mite drops on your sticky board when the brood hatches and your mite wash will show treatment isn't necessary has been my experience with my Minnesota Hygienic bees. Monitor and treat as needed. Max population for honey bees is mid July on average. The bees could care less about the summer solstice they will lay as long as enough quality stores are still coming in which is nearly year round here in South Louisiana.

Very good video! In an area such as mine the Temperature is over 90. Would oxalic acid be a good second choice? Thanks Phillip Hall

What are your thoughts on oxalic acid vapor if you only have a few colonies? Thanks

Great Video Brett....I’m concerned with putting the honey super back on the hive...seems like a bad idea....what made you alerted to this one particular hive...over all the others...

Any thoughts about the honey super and the mite strips, it says it’s alright but... Thanks

Great channel thanks. What compelled you to do a mite count for that hive??

Could you have treated sooner. And how long ago would have been optimal. I get it they build up quick. But at some point they die faster than the bees. But as a high of mights rifles threw the hive can’t I treat sooner.

MAQS, .... It Killed one of my Queens last year, my Fault, weather was too hot and not enough ventilation. She survived previous years treatment when conditions were right.
