Both are amazing. The used car market is crazy: I just bought a used 2023 C40 with 10K miles for less than $30K!

2.6 vs 3.4 miles per kwh! 30% difference! Volvo needs to up it’s tech.

I purchased a C40, and my reasons were different from the features covered in this video. I ordered on-line with a definite delivery time and no markup over MSRP. Communication from Volvo Cars USA throughout the delivery process was excellent. I will also benefit from a federal tax refund. All those characteristics are becoming more difficult to find but can be extremely rewarding. Also I now have Apple CarPlay running on my C40! It works great!

Bought an XC40 last October in Australia and so far have been very pleased, its better now we are getting monthly over the air-updates and love the performance. Would love more range living in country western australia but still have managed to make it work with no pain. With one of the updates have already picked up 5% efficiency.

I have an Ioniq 5 and my husband has the polestar 2, both are cousins to these 2 cars. I love my Ioniq for it’s quiet ride, better ev tech and roominess. My husband loves his P2 for the faster acceleration, better handling and compact size. He says it’s the best bmw 3 series he’s had. However it’s loud, inefficient and lacks range. We only use it for local drives. We take my Ioniq 5 for road trips bc it’s a much better ev w longer range, MUCH faster charging and quieter ride.

Apple Carplay became available in the Volvo C40 (and XC40 Recharge) with the (over-the-air) version 2.2 software update earlier this month (July 2022). I test-drove a C40 today that had it.

The EV6 is a strong rival to Model 3 and Model Y. it would be my choice right now in the GT-Line AWD trim or even the Wind. I'd back-uff the Teslas based on price and lack of tax incentive on top of that. Model 3 RWD is compelling, but Wind trim makes more sense, even if the platform isn't quite as efficient or lightweight. The EV6 makes me look forward to the future and to the next gen of platforms to follow.

I own a C40. My neighbour bought an EV6. I like the look of the EV6…BUT build quality of the volvo is light years ahead of Kia. My other car is a Kia Soul EV, and after 3 years it’s a plastic rattle box. I love the volvo…I’d buy it again in a heart beat

I would probably go for XC40 over C40. Always wanted a Volvo!
Don't know if you can buy them, you can't get a EV6! They won't even say how much it cost, so I am guessing its like Ioniq5 with AT LEAST 1 years wait....
But I have seen EV6 out in the wild, I really like how it looks IRL!

Yep, choose between a premium brandt or a Kia. The lower cost at loading doesnt make up the rest value difference

The Volvo XC40/C40 looks so good. Too bad the range is only 225 miles. If Volvo cuts the price by $10k or increases the range to over 300 miles, it would be at the top of my list for my next car.

Ordered my C40 after I also tested Polestar 2, EV6 and Ioniq 5. Found Kia/Hyundai too "plasticky"; the handling of the menus (and the position of the screen) are seriously complicated and inconvenient, esp. while driving, and all the warning beepings and flashy animations were just plain annoying. Whereas in the C40 it's very smooth, simple and easy to use, no drive modes or recouperation modes I will rarely use anyway. Simplicity as a design choice. Build and quality is also better on the C40, and 10 inch is a LOT of unneccessary space/length if you don't have a family. C40 might be a bit more pricey, but it's a CAR, not a computer/gadget/tablet on wheels (THEMES for the speedometer? why would I need that?). And the "homey"-feeling is far superior when you get into the C40 (btw, also much better than Polestar 2). So you might get used to the Koreans, but C40 felt "right" on first entry. Plus, as others have mentioned below, Apple Carplay is now available in the C40, they do monthly OTA-updates - a feat the Kia/Hyundai can't even do to this day, afaik. Btw, efficiency also gets increased with OTA, some users report ~300 miles with a full charge by now on the C40.

Volvo is direct sales. So you don't have to worry about dealers. I think this is very fair. Volvo is an older design and shows it. It's not a ground-up EV and shows it. Volvo needs to get the noise level down as does Polestar. Volvo has a European ride but it can also be a bit more supple in some ways. I'm a Volvo owner but I think the EV6 is the better buy here. Volvo's next-gen needs to come out. Their current gen EVs are showing their non-EV roots. Kia is knocking out home runs and is a very exciting brand to watch.

Seems like the Kia is the clear winner. Charges faster, much longer range, and more room inside. Maybe availability is better in the Volvo? I’m just searching for a reason anybody would buy one.

Definitely my EV6 AWD fully loaded is after comparing the best choice and plays in another league than Volvo still legacy design. Charging with 800 Volts like Porsche Taycan and Audi GT e–tron most features of a Tesla Y and suspension dampers same as used in Mercedes AMG and Maserati so far. This car definitely challenges even double price EQE Mercedes but drives better, has silent A/C and only rear wheel steering is missing. The air suspension on my comparison drive was not remarkably different. Volvo was not to compare to both other cars and do not forget that Albert Biermann for 30 years boss of BMW M Sports was responsible for the EV6 handling and on narrow mountain roads with many curves the Kia seems one class smaller. With Volvo I had no advantage there with the little more power. Since May I drive with a max. of 14, 8 to 16, 8 kWh per 100 km. Highways here max. 120 km/h. Regen is better than Mercedes EQE and Volvo and perfectly adjustable. After all, most serious competition here cost 10‘000 to 65‘000 CHF more and as a business and private car decision is easy made. Kia offers 7 years of warranty and Mercedes, Audi and Volvo.😎✌️

I have the EV6 Wind AWD, never drive in eco and do not drive efficiently and usually get 3.7 - 4.8 mpkW. I drive in normal 65% and sport 35% of the time typically.

Of the 2 I'd take the Kia EV6. Pluses are extra room, faster charging, longer range, efficiency, and the massive dual screens. I would choose it despite the mode button HVAC to entertainment switch and lack of navigational help in charging info. An app can correct that somewhat, but I would have preferred it to be built-in. Even so, I like the Kia better.
