Today we went into our Layens hives and harvested our fall honey!

Enjoy the sounds of the Bees and the view of nature and some beautiful honey. The Bees were great today and very cooperative. We got at least four gallons which will last us a long time.

Looks like you got a lot of good honey. That was a great shot when the honey first started pouring out of the press. Beautiful! And I love the sentiment: it's not about the honey; its about the bees. That's a good reminder for us all.

Wes - Another great video! Very informative . . . "It's not about the honey. It's about the bees." . . . Well said!

Wes, the hives look so good this year! That honey press is beautiful seeing it in action. Great video and I’m sure I owe you some honey!! If you would like a hamburger for your victory and not honey just let me know.

welcome back, have missed your videos and learning about bees, if you leave to much honey in the hive can you extract it in the spring? what do you do with the wax after you press it? on the cone honey do you do pt. or qt. and do you use wide-mouth jars? where did you get your press? do you clean up the frame before putting them back into the hive or do you store them for the winter then use them in the spring? if you store them, where? it is all about the bees!!! sorry about all the questions but it's your fault for having such a good video and information. not much of a sweet coffee person but do enjoy honey on my heart-healthy oatmeal with butter and cinnamon!!! thanks again

I have yet to find a good solution to combat hive beetles with layens frame other than strong hives. I see you have a few as well. Good honey haul.

What is the brand of your press? Is it holding up well? 😍

Hi, I'm wondering why you chose to use wired frames even though you're using a honey press for extraction. Were you originally planning on using a motorized extractor? Or maybe you like to use foundation? Just curious because I'm about to start up construction of my frames and I need to make a decision of whether to wire or use the horizontally placed 1/4" dowel for foundationless frames. Thanks.

great video =) Your apiary seem to grow quite nicely. <3

May I ask If you have some preference over a Layen hive or a Lazutin hive ? And if yes, why ? =) I'm in my first year and build a lazutin hive.

I'm in a forest environnement like you.

Thank you for your efforts to keep honey bees the right way. I like Layens frames, but I put two divider boards on both ends, this way is much easier to pull frames when you have some extra room to move them. Love your honey press, I think that the jumping up price for a full scale extractor is not a good motivator. Did you treat your bees for mites in fall or spring?

Whoa I love how easy looking that press is to work. Do you clean it up or let the bees do it?

You can harvest honey from bees but can’t click a cube? ;)

Hi there. Checked my insulated layens hive, built off the Doctor's plans. There was a lot of water in there. We've had a lot of rain in Michigan, and it seems like the bottom of the hive was still soaked with water. Additionally there was mold on the inside bottom of the hive as well as on some of the comb. I'm concerned that with the amount of moisture, they won't make it through the winter. (Moisture is usually a winter or spring problem right?) Anyone ever seen this? Does he treat this in his book? Not sure what to do so late in the season
