The slide should not have been designed that way, the second hill acted like a ramp. It should have had a big drop then a straight run out to the pool.

This is exactly why we need regulations overseen and standardized by third parties (government). Business can't regulate themselves. If inspections are done by the business owners or paid by the business owns.... what you suppose you'll get for an inspection? .. probably what the "employer" or paying party wants them to say. Go figure Schlitterbahn received all passing inspections by their private inspectors. I would certainly hope that after this horrible tragedy that the party that tends to always lean less on regulations takes this as a wake-up call that tragedy knows NO BOUNDARIES! We need regulations now like we haven't seen in decades!

Watersides are not Rollercoasters. Rollercoasters are 100% predictable with a metal rail, the coaster has no choice but to go where it is "told". A water slide is not the same. Water will go where it wants to go, the raft has no choice but to follow. Completely unpredictable, everyone who rode that should consider themselves lucky. Just look at the thing. Anyone who looked at that slide and thought "that looks completely safe" was fooling themselves. That being said I'm sure I would have gotten on it too. Probably let my kids ride as well. I wouldn't have let my friends kids ride w/o their parents consent, it just looks dangerous.

I think that the metal guard or w/e it is should have covered the whole slide just until a bit before the end. To me it just doesn't sit well that they basically cut the guard in half and called it good. This ride should have never have opened watching the tests that I watched.

I live in the Kansas City area locally a couple months I was at that park before the incident happened and Im glad I didn't go on it🙏🙏🙏😔 but my condolences to the family who lost a loved one it's not easy rip.

I’m sure the second hill is to slow down the raft for the end of the ride, but it should definitely be smaller. There could even be two of them. After Calebs death, they added seat belts. This was a good idea to keep the riders from flying out of the raft, but it does not keep the raft from flying off the slide. The rafts themselves should be hooked to a track to (idk, maybe) keep it from going airborne. Plus the “net” (which is basically a metal death trap) should cover more of the slide and maybe NOT be metal. Imagine hurling towards that at 50+mph. So many things, including a scale at the top of the ride (to keep people from lying about their weight), could have been done to prevent Calebs death. This is so sad.
