Guys the pattern i use is:
Cast on 8 sts for first leg (16 rows)
Cast on the other leg
Break off the yarn
Knit 16 rows with 16 sts
Then cast on 8sts at the beginning of next 2 rows (32 sts)
Knit 6 more rows
Cast off 8sts at the beginning of next 2 rows (16sts)
Knit 38 rows
Repeat reversed until the legs
Knit 8sts (put the other 8 sts on a pin) turn and knit 15 rows cast off.
Pick up the remaining 8sts from the pin and knit 16 rows for the second leg
Cast off.
Sew up teddy and stuff
Stitch across the corners of the head to make the ears and sew on a smiley face.
