"The Messenger" is the only acoustic song ever written by Linkin Park. The song is very mellow, the guitar is very soothing filled with husky vocals. On February 22, 2011, at a press conference in California, Chester Benington (Linkin Park vocalist) said that this song is for teenagers. He added that teenagers sometimes grow into adults and things can get tough, so finding a home is the only answer for them to live.

More seriously, this is probably the deepest and most meaningful song they've ever written, and definitely Chester's best vocal performance. Just hearing his voice makes you realize how much this song was important to him and that it has much more depth than any lyric he screamed.

Such a shame "The Messenger" is so underrated, it's one of the best songs they've written, if not the best.

We'll deeply miss you Chester, our lives won't ever be the same ever again.

This song saved me from so many attempts at suicide. I used to shed so many tears listening to this, i felt as though Chester was actually there, trying to comfort me. And now that he's passed by suicide, it breaks my heart to listen to this. Chester was by far one of the most influential voices in the rock scene of this decade and he will never be forgotten.

Man, this song hits all the emotions. I'm remembering two friends of mine that committed suicide while also thinking about CB. This is why I refuse to talk down to, disrespect or make fun of people, you never know where they're at in their life and the next negative interaction they have could push them over the edge. I remember listening to this all the time as a boy. I wasnt loved, my stopmom got drunk and beat me for even "looking at her funny" She threatened my life, she bullied me, she abused me. and my dad just didnt care...

But Chester and Linkin Park were always there to lul me and save me. I struggle with trauma but I still come back to this to remember Love keeps us kind and alive.
