Virtue Ethics (Ethics Online - Ethical Theory II)

The 1960’s and 70’s saw extraordinary developments in scientific knowledge, yet bio-ethicists of both utilitarian and deontological persuasions floundered about quite what to say. Increasingly it became clear that it was moral sensitivity, perception and judgement - in short the virtue of prudence - that was required to meet the new moral challenges. An ancient ethical tradition going back thousands of years to Homer, the blind storyteller, was back on the scene.
