0.5 nib writes great, 0.3 nib feels a bit scratchy

the part where you push the little ball in reminds me of the ramune soda I used to drink all the time

I used to work for a luxury fountain pen company and can confirm that they are great pens. We used them in our office. I have collected pens from different price ranges due to my job but my "daily driver" is a Platinum Preppy.

"Almost as if a typical fountain pen and a gel pens had a baby together" 💀

Edit 1: dang thanks for the likes!

You know what, I really appreciate u reviewing pens as ur left handed, because it means I can see what pens will actually be good and not have a accursed smudging that plagues us all, so thanks!

For everyday writing, I always prefer my platinum preppys. Easy to replace if one gets broken, and I've converted a few to eyedropper pens.

Know that too.
I have something nice and expensive that works great, and I often use the cheap one that also works well. Examples that come to mind are:
2€ 30ml black ink and no name small nib which is slightly flexible with holder 2€ from Sostrene Grene a decoration store, instead of Tachikawa nib holder and one of the 3 nibs (G-Pen, Schoolpen and small thin nib) from a set for 15 € and Kuretake Black ink 60ml for about 8€.
The whole thing on a somewhat smooth bamboo paper 50 sheet DinA4 pad from Flying Tiger approx. 115g/m2 for 3€ instead of special smooth pen drawing paper for 8€ for 10 sheets of 250g DinA4 paper from Hahnemühle.

It's great to see more economical models on the market!

I have a lot of Pilot Varsity pens. They're relatively cheap and disposable.

I use them at work - they're perfect. Cheap (so if they "disappear" there's no heartache) and, if you eye-dropper fill them you're good for a month without an ink change.

I ❤ my Preppy pens. They write well and are never clogged or dry.

In 5th grade I had 3 fountain pens and every one of my classmates called them my “murder pens” because of how sharp they were. Soon enough I emptied one out just so I could poke people with them without getting ink on them. Good times

Yeah. I also had 2 fountain pen, one was ₹70 (I am Indian.)or 84 cents. The other one was ₹40 or 48 cents. I have been using the cheap one for almost a year, refilling it, the writing was so smooth too.

Little fun fact: My friend gifted me my first ever fountain pen just yesterday. I haven't touched one in years, and I've never used one before! I've done a little research because I was going to get one for my birthday.. But today is my first time using a fountain pen and I'm surprised by how smooth it is!

(We were supposed to squeeze the cartridge?? I just put it in and hold the pen with the point down for a minute.. '._.)

back in germany we get these for like 2 euros a piece, we got to write with these in like second or third grade

I love these. I’ve bought maybe 5 in different colors, and fit them with converters platinum makes to make them custom colors. My only complaint is that the caps are way too delicate! They’re all friction fit and pop over a little groove to stay on, but over time the caps always crack and split, and I dunno how to get replacement caps. So once the cap breaks down, I have to throw the whole pen away and buy a replacement. I really want to be low waste, and these have been my favorite fountain pens I can afford.

I think what's going on with these pants is that it's the design itself. That's good, even if what it's made out of and the people it's made by aren't necessarily good. That doesn't change the fact that a fountain pen is a really good pen.

Maybe the 300$ fountain pen would be used if your an artist or someone who wants to become an artist.(serious)
But for the cheaper one could probably be used for fun or kids that love drawing or have an interest of drawing or even just writing.
🎉❤😊😊😊😊
