those are sprinter spikes ment for a 400 or 1 lap, that shoe is for marathon runners and cross country, long distance. now a good test would be sprinter flats vs sprinter spikes, or distance spikes vs distance shoes

I love spikes for cross country and track they are so helpful also don’t forget spikes are also light on your feet so you don’t have to pick up all the extra weight of a sneaker

Spikes are only for short distance running, the adizero and that one Nike vapor shoe are both banned in marathons. They’re comfortable, you expend less energy to move, and they’re pushing you forward

I did track my this year for the first time in hs and didn’t have spikes so I took my bf’s cross country spikes (a size and a half too big). I still managed to be 18th in the state for 100m hurdles but when I traded them for (borrowed) proper shoes, it made such a difference.

(Context: I am 5’10 F and Jamaican if that matters)
