If you did a good job parenting your kids, you will not have to exert any pressure or influence once your child grows up and marries. If you did a good job parenting, your kid will have learned what they needed to learn from you and make their own decisions with their new family. If you did a good job parenting, your kid will decide what traditions to pass on and what to leave behind to do what they think is best for their new family. If you did a poor job parenting, your kids will either a) constantly go to you as an adult for help because they have not learned decision making skills, or b) go no contact because all they have learned is to not trust your decision making skills.

Really bad advice. Idc where he got it from but with how society works grandparents need to be apart of the child’s life because the parents need to make money to support the immediate family and the child getting morals from outside the home leads to outside sources influencing your kids. Don’t be stupid if you have resources like grandparents to help raise your children use them

Everything in moderation, there's some truth to what's being said here, but you certainly shouldn't go all the way in that direction. Extended families are a thing for a reason, and community is something that I think everyone is lacking. But also, you do need to take some kind of independence and individuality for yourself. You shouldn't let your immediate family become your everything and consume your entire life and cut everything else out. But also, you can't ignore your immediate family. You still have to make some time to be with them and only them every now and then. The key is to find the right balance.

Scriptures say the children will leave their mothers and fathers and stick together as one. The families are VERY important, of course. But the loyalties should change.
