Mazda's top-selling model of all time becomes the third member of a new generation featuring the automaker's "KODO -- Soul of Motion" design and its full range of convention-defying SKYACTIV Technology. The new Mazda3 thereby joins its award- winning siblings: the Mazda CX-5, a compact SUV launched in 2012, and the mid-sized Mazda6.
Consisting of lightweight engines, transmissions, body and chassis, SKYACTIV Technology was developed by Mazda from the ground up as the basis for ultra-efficient vehicles. It has also helped put Mazda back on track as a business: The improvements achieved through SKYACTIV innovation have considerably enhanced the efficiency of its manufacturing and development processes.
The new Mazda3 is also the latest model developed according to Sustainable Zoom-Zoom, Mazda's strategy to build fuel-efficient and safe cars that are still remarkably fun to drive. It is therefore available with i-stop, the world's fastest idle-stop system, and i-ELOOP, Mazda's brake energy regeneration system. Performance, meanwhile, is impressive thanks to the all- new engines and transmissions. And with a number of other SKYACTIV innovations adapted to the smaller, leaner packaging of the compact Mazda3, it's got the handling to match and should be one of the safest compacts available when it goes on sale in Europe this fall.

Test drove the sedan on Saturday. The dealership had just gotten them in that day and wasn't even out on the lot yet. This car is amazing!

Absolutely LOVE the large tachometer! The Mazda3 is the only true driver's car in it's class. Beautiful interior.

Seriously, the interiors on these compacts are getting really good. Even the new Corolla has a really nice interior.

Top of the line interior trim is very nice; basic trim is very, very cheesy. How did they manage that! The car, as a whole, is probably the best on the market.

I liked how my 2010 Mazda 3 GT hatchback drove. It was carefree too. This looks upscale from that and the smiley face is gone. Plus this dash is nothing like the other vehicles in this segment, better. I was looking forward to the U.S. 2015 VW GTI, but not so hip with VW quality. Now I'm zeroing in on this model. Love the futuristic dash and the top mounted display is unique. The heads up display, head and rear lights, perforated leather seats, body shape all look great.

Do Mazda's really have that bad of a rust issue? I had a Mazda6 for 10 years and Mazda3 for 3 and neither have rusted yet, and I also live in a salt belt state.

The 10s is the decade when eco cars become awesome

it's due to the type of sheet metal they use over in Japan. Over there rust isn't an issue due to the lack of salt they use. Over here in Canada salt is splattered everywhere which is ridiculous and expensive and can wreak havoc on mazdas. With the chemical treatment protection they offer which is lifetime it's definitely worth it and no rust! and if it occurs as long as you follow your maintenance schedule, it'll be caught as it happens and fixed right away.

That is the heads up display, it shows speed, temperature, and I think navigation.

Very nice. Gonna get one, but have to have the 2.5L with Manual. Not sure yet hatch vs sedan. Sucks that the manual is not avail at launch for the 2.5, but should be avail by new years.

The materials and impression of quality is high in this interior, almost premium feeling in the compact segment, I am sure it will sell well at least in Europe. If it drives as well as it looks, the VW Golf will have a rival in this car. Cheers.
