ACTIVE TARGET INSTALL AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Adding the @lowrance Active Target to a Lowrance depth finder is not super difficult. Follow John Crews as his adds it to his electronics heavy Bass Cat. He also walks you through a few common bugs to get it working.

NOTE- The transducer is backwards. Just flip so the cable is closest to the trolling motor shaft.

John, you have the transducer for the Active Target upside down. If you store the Trolling motor with the prop inside the boat then you want the cable from the transducer closest to the trolling motor shaft. Look at the the transducer and locate the gold dot, its a temp sensor, that should be pointing up.

Hey John, thanks for putting up this video. I'm having a problem with my Ultrex trolling motor not barely turning right and left... I see you have a big loop in your wires on the trolling motor shaft. Is that so the motor will spin? I didn't have any problems with my trolling motor spinning before I had the Active Target installed... Not sure if I need to take the Ultrex in to the shop or add the big loop... thanks in advance!!!

I fished yesterday for the first time with my active Target. I wasn't impressed but I'm sure it is me not having the unit dialed in yet. I'm old school fishing and not a wizard on the electronics but wanted to try something new. When I started tournament fishing it was flashers only. Electronics I wasn't a flasher.

my active target works great for about 30-45 min and then the screen goes black and says "no source". I have looked all over the internet to try and find out what I did wrong during the install and can find you have any insight ir would be greatly appreciated.

The ethernet light is not blinking on my active target, i do have power light blinking. what do you suggest ?

I have a really hard time seeing my bait on active target. Also the image beyond about 30 ft is so cluttered it’s useless . I’m wondering what I can do to improve it. At this point I’m wishing I had got Garmin. A friend of mine has Garmin and gets a much better picture.

Do you run a separate battery for it or do you run it off the same battery as your other graphs?

If I can ask because my active target should be coming soon. I have a 06 Sabre. Can I use the power in the front of the rod locker?
