During this ride I talk about my CBR600F4i and how it compares to the CBR600RR I had in college.

If i remember correctly, the F4i sacrifices some top end power for better low-midrange end torque, which makes the f4i easier to ride on the street and for less experienced riders.

I have a 1999 Honda CBR600F4 for 16 years now and still love it. Has enough power for street riding for me and I can do a lot of work on it myself. It has 105, 000 kilometers on it now.

I am 57, have a Harley and my 04 CBR F4i. I Work hard, limited time.... But I have had many bikes in my life, including a 93 CBR F2, , a 2007 Cbr600rr (exceptional bike), a 2012 CBR1000rr, a 94 1100 Honda STi, a 2004 VFR 800F VFR800, a Yamaha FJR 1300, and many, many others. The F4i is a comfortable and extremely accomplished road sport bike. Cheaper to insure, and way beyond my needs or skills on PA roads. Believe this guy and his video.... Best deal out there. Screw public looks great, anyway. These bikes are the most comfortable, relaxed, screamers out $3250 for a Black/red 2004 with like 6000 miles on it in fall, 2017... You do the same. Smart move.

You gloss over one of the biggest up points of the F4i: comfort.

The RR has very punishing ergonomics and the F4i is designed as a street bike before a track bike.

The RR is about too end power. The F4i has a bit more bottom end grunt and sacrifice top end.

I went from a 00 CBR600F4 to an 06 CBR600F4i to an 07 CBR600RR. I never felt like the F4i was any less of a supersport than any other... I loved that bike.. if it wasnt destroyed when I was hit I'd probably still have it. The 07-up 600RR has a more similar seating position to the F4i.. not as upright but close.. and you're right it does feel similar... for me the biggest change was the banana (single) seat of my 06 vs the split seat of my RR similar to what you have.. The f4i is a great bike... probably one of the best out there IMO

I also fallin in love in my f4i - I had in past 900rr, but this f4i is best bike ever to me to normal driving and few trackdays. Ineed no long a litre bike to ride fast in corners. F4i with banana seat is a best honda fun bike ever

My buddy who is a very experienced track rider has an F4i as his track bike. He swapped out the front forks for those from a wrecked '05 600rr, and installed an Ohlins rear suspension. He has a full Yoshi exhaust, PC5, and aftermarket rearsets. That bike rips. He said the only 600rr's that he can run similar or better lap times with are the 07-08 versions with Comparable mods. That bike has a better chassis, and better power/weight ratio.

RR is better if you're going to track, BUT for real life street use, or even short touring F4 is better

Ive had a f4i since I was 16 it is the greatest bike I've ever ridden, the 2002 is in my opinion way better ride than my busa. GET ONE IF YOU FIND

F4i for my money. Im 6 2 190 comfort factor is great. You can still hang off at track day too. You can get a knee down without dragging any thing else. Left side anyway....Mine is speced at 105hp. 2006. Unless I am looking at the ago wrong specs. Took it to 167mph in the rare Colorado air. I had a hard time believing my Speedo that day.

Interesting test, I appreciate all the comments.
I just bought a 07 cbr RR, for some track days, enjoy the look.
I keep my 93 VFR for longer ride.

I love the F4I. It's built like a tank and versatile.

Some don't like the "more" up right sitting, but like mine, throw on some WoodCraft rearsets and Vortex race clipons.

F4i was Honda's flagship supersport bike back in 2001-2002. Using the F4i, Ten Kate and Fabien Foret won championships. Quote, " First and second place at the AMA Daytona 600 supersport race (with Miguel DuHamel and Nicky Hayden aboard, respectively) proves this point quite well. The bike has great tuning potential for racing, and it shouldn’t be overlooked by the rider who wants a bike for track days or club racing. The extremely light wheels and brake discs erase the slight weight penalty associated with choosing the F4i over some of the other 600s.".

An interview with DuHamel: AMSOUP: Since you've raced every version since then, how do you see the evolution of the bike? Is the same basic well-balanced machine still present in the F4i?

DUHAMEL: One of the things you really have to tip your hat to Honda for is they didn't try to re-invent the wheel. They learned right away how to make a great motorcycle for both street riding and racing, and have stayed with that. It's not one of those bikes where your butt's sitting 3 inches higher than your handlebars so its only good for racing. Yet, even though it's comfortable for street riding it's always been a great race bike, too. And over the years they've kept the great balance and just been tweaking and improving on it, and this year I think is one of the biggest steps forward they've made with the bike.

F4i are still hitting the track for the novice level racing, and still being used for stunting.
