In this video, I'm going to demonstrate how to perform steep turns as well as share some of the "cheat codes" that my instructors taught me back when I was in flight school. If you want to pass your private pilot check ride, mastering steep turns is critical!

Thanks for watching!

you make it look so easy. Hopefully I can get all that down as easy when I start my career 2.0 this summer. Thank you !!

The biggest issue I had was getting uncoordinated on initial roll in. That nose down from the compensation would trip me up and start oscilating through the turn. "Dutch roll" practice helped me work through this. Thanks Trent!

I've been a licensed private pilot now for over 26 years. When I learned those steep turns in an older Cessna, it was a attitude indicator...much tougher. You're right, more important to look outside and keep that horizon at the same location along your windshield view.

Steep turns are my least favorite maneuver right now. It’s so many things to scan through and just a little lapse in attention can get you outside standards really quick it seems like. I appreciate these tips.

Is there a review video coming for your thoughts on the Remos GX? Looks like a really fun aircraft but I don’t know anybody who has one. Im interested to hear your thoughts on pros or cons.

Great video! Is the DPE looking at 100ft difference between the start and end altitudes or do they expect you to stay within that 200 ft window throughout the entire maneuver?

Would this work on a piper archer im having a bit of trouble distinguishing with the horizon and when the plane drops and climbs? I hope this helps

We have an artificial horizon in our Cessna's attitude indicator. I reckon same 'meatball principle' applies?

As I was doing steep turn on my flight review my instructor said I wasn’t coordinate. I enjoyed this video. But I notice the ball was always outside the window. The ACS says it has to be coordinated. What am I missing? What is a DPE looking for as far as coordinated? Thanks in advance. Love your videos.

What kind of sunglasses are you wearing ?

I’m doing it next week with the DPE. It’s my weakest maneuver.
