CENDG2110206003
Change gear oil
Initially after 20 hours (1 month) and every 100 hours
(12 months)
1) Place outboard motor upright on a level surface.
2) Place a container under the lower unit.
3) Remove lower gear oil drain plug (1) first, then
remove gear oil level plug (2) and drain gear oil.
4) Fill with recommended gear oil through oil drain hole
until oil just starts to flow out from oil level hole.
Recommended gear oil
• Suzuki Outboard Motor Gear Oil or API
classification GL5, Viscosity rating SAE # 90
Hypoid gear oil.
Gear oil amount
1050 ml (35.5/37.0 US/Imp. oz)
5) Install oil level plug before removing oil filler tube
from drain hole.
6) Install oil drain plug.
NOTICE
An used gasket may leak and allow water to
enter the gearcase causing severe damage.
Do not reuse gaskets once removed.
Always use a new gasket.
NOTE
To avoid a possible low gear oil level,
recheck gear oil level 10 minutes after doing
procedure in step 6. If oil level is low, add

Hey man, great video. What hp motor do you have? I have a 04 Johnson 140hp 4 stroke, the motors look and have similar parts. Just woundering if the gear oil would be the same?

15000 views and not a single question .. ask it cost you nothing and let me know if you manage to get it done . .you just save $150 and got the boat back one month earlier because you did the work yourself .. good job . .let me know if you did it or you chickened out .. it is easy .. just make sure you take the used oil to any auto part for recycling and it is free to you. .if you live in usa
