I am regularly encouraged to see Joe and others on the show talk about Jesus.
The moral standards given to us through the Bible and how you seek to hold
our elected officials, who claim the name of Christ, to those standards when
they fall short.
I'm excited to check out Meacham's Book.

Why the discussion on mythology ? I think the Greek gods have more interesting stories. The last words spoken on the cross depend on which gospel you take it from - they differ in significant ways.
*** Luke 23:46: Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit.
*** John 19:30: It is finished.
*** Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34: My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
Just a sample of the contradictory bible stories.

We focus on the cross, because Jesus was perfect and was still murdered on account of that. As Christians we learn, that we must not expect the world to treat us any better than it treated Jesus.

Absolutely right Meacham - the important message was the empty tomb and the fact of eternal life.

"the Christian story is unimaginable, without..."

It's unbelievable, in either case. I thought I accidentally turned to The 700 Club. Is this still a NEWS outlet?

What is happening to you people?

Isn't the beginning of Lent a bit early to talk about Good Friday and Easter?

Why do people on American television keep bothering everyone with their religiosity? Their 'understanding' of religion is so horribly minimal, it's comical.

Time to move beyond fairy tales. Time to focus on how bad reality is being pushed aside for a controlled narrative.

Jesus called out to God asking why he had forsaken him because part of what needed to happen in order for his death to cleanse us all was that he needed to experience time without God. He needed to be a regular mortal experiencing what happens when we completely reject God - the final death where we live in an afterlife without light and love. If Jesus had to die like a sinner in order to do the job he was here to do, he had to see a glimpse of that kind of an afterlife. I believe he actually experienced time without connection to God while he was on the cross. If not, how bad is the death really? If the whole time he was up there, he knew exactly what was coming, there would have been a lot more comfort for him than for any other human being ever. He had to essentially forget in order for it to have the meaning it needed to have <3

other than selling a book - what is the purpose of this interview? We all interpret the Jesus story in our own way. And if you're Jewish, he's not the messiah

"My God, My God, Why Has Thou Forsaken Me?" Christ had taken on the sins of the world to the cross, and God would not look upon him at that particular time. So says a logical interpretation of those historic words.
