In Fear & Hunger 2, you will come across multiple insectoid Beekeepers throughout the city of Prehevil. These monsters are hollow husks made of many hives and they will attack the player once you get too close to their nests. While we see many monsters in the game, the Beekeepers stand out as we can see they were morphed by the God of the Depths whose sigil can be seen on one of the Beekeeper hives. This is interesting as the God of the Depths was absorbed into the God of Fear & Hunger in the first game, but since Old Gods can never truly die, we see its influence is still present and powerful in the world.

If i remember right the god of fear and hunger never accepted the insect aspect of the god of the depths because as a mortal she found them too creepy so she swapped it for control of vermin and birds so insects and insect related things still fall under the god of the depths domain but its his last influence remaining

Also on the note of the god of the depths being absorbed, when the fear and hunger god was born she rejected the connection to bugs and insects because she didn't not like insects. So insects would be one of the few domains that the god of the depths would have retrained

Base my own understanding

The pure concept that coalescence into sentient beings already left the mortal plane long ago. What we see is just echo of those old gods presence that remains.

Those old gods has two parts in them,
the godhood essense that whats make them sentient and divine
that trancends mortal finite being.
And the pure abstract concept that which they embodied and obtain their very powers and Inclining nature to follow.

When God of Fear and Hunger is born she already had potential to become a true god by nature she obtain it from the union of her parents. And the nurturing she grow up become empty vessel to hold a new abstract concept in which the old gods require for human to become akin to them.

And because god of F&H is perfect vessel
The moment god of the depths dies its divine soul essense is absorbed by the little girl and become ascended god with her very own concept nature.

But the pure concept that god of the depths hold still exist in the world albeit more on indirect and passive yet still in effect. And i believe that God of the depths didn't truly dies as they are already left the world and only echoes of their being remains.

So in conclusion the divine part of a old gods soul would be taken by someone with right condition for it obtain. While its ideal form remains in the world while it very being goes into the cosmos and what soul remains their remnant form is just shard of their power that so powerful still make someone become a god in their own right.
