In the documentary you'll see the diary said one person will tie everyone so the kids were found to be tired up fully so they won't make any mistake in the ritual where as Lalit and his wife must be the last ones to tie themselves therefore their ropes were loosely tied and even showed signs of struggle..

See, the way they wrote in diaries actually felt like someone is commanding them, as they were superstitious family also, so there can be two things
1: According to police officials, Mr. Lalit was also facing some financial problem like he took the loans and cannot return it so he made the fool out of his family he pretended everything and according to psychology a human can change their voice if they want to it all comes from mind our body is controlled by mind which can do and depict anything so he pretended everything and made his family believe in him, because it's a very normal case when people have committed suicide because they can't pay off their loans. But this sort of he did it because if he only committed suicide it would come on their family, and somehow, he doesn't want that.

2: According to hindu scriptures very strong types of demons who are in another dimension they harm humans to take their souls in pataal where they never find peace so it can be an entity too behaving like their dead father or whatever and controlling them they were an easy catch
