Thank you ICR, Dr. Thompkins and Michael. Even Darwin’s various “trees of life” showed several different common ancestors which makes me wonder, where did the various/different “ancestors” come from? Maybe there is a good answer, but it seems to me the idea of a “Common DESIGNER” makes more sense.. Colossians Chapter 1 explains who this common designer/creator is. Also, I very much appreciate the genetic sequencing illustrations/explanation showing why the 84% similarity (between chimps and humans) is defensible whereas 98% is not.

We are not animals and we are not related to apes. On the last day of creation, God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). Thus, He finished His work with a “personal touch.” God formed Adam from the dust and gave him life by sharing His own breath (Genesis 2:7). Accordingly, humanity is unique among all God’s creations, having both a material body and an immaterial soul/spirit.
The image of God (Latin, imago dei) refers to the immaterial part of humanity. It sets human beings apart from the animal world, fits them for the dominion God intended them to have over the earth (Genesis 1:28), and enables them to commune with their Maker. It is a likeness mentally, morally, and socially.

There's a huge difference between a common ancestor and a common Designer.

God's fingerprints are all over creation. But since scientists currently refuse to even CONSIDER the existence of God, they pass the similarities between kinds off as evidence of common ancestry, and NOT as evidence of being designed by the same Creator.

I'd like to know how close human DNA is to other animals, like monkeys and cattle, etc., whether it's all around 84% or higher or lower. Why did they only compare chimp and human DNA?

2 Things....

1. Textbooks will not be changed, which is a shame, but reveals that naturalist are not so much worried about science but philosophy. The narrative needs to be tight in order for people to buy into it.

2. I'd like to see a "Creation Connection" episode on the Table of Nations.

Haldane's dilemma still shows that there is not enough time on the "evolutionary time scale" in order to
get enough beneficial mutations to close the so-called "gap" between humans and apes.

I studied this last year and learned alot. However, please remember this is a secondary issue when it comes to salvation. Some people are just gna believe evolution because they have been indoctrinated for so many years.
Even if evolution were true, it doesn't make Christianity false. And trust me it is not worth arguing with someone over the "evidence" for evolution or the lack thereof. Let God do the heart convicting.
