Modern Scandinavian Cabin Tour! DEN Outdoors DIY Barnhouse Cabin Build

In this video, we're going back to Tuxedo, NY to see our customer Jason Laswell's finished barnhouse cabin build!

Today, we'll be doing a full tour of Jason's modified barnhouse plus model that features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large great room and dining area, a laundry room, and a huge outdoor deck with views of the nearby pond.

We would love to see a similar walkthrough video on Den's 'Essential House' plan as that is the one we're currently building at a local lake.. doing these walkthroughs is really a great way to see how others set things up, change things, and it's much easier to visualize the overall feel of the floor plan.

As architect I see one major flaw with this house - the living space is not oriented towards south? From video Im seeing that entrance elevation is on the eastern side aswell as kitchen, and there is living on the north-west side. You can see how the living room and decking is in shade, and its such a beautifull day its shame that you dont get sun all day long on that terrace, It would be better if house was rotated to south so living and terrace would get warmth from sun.

The standing-seam roof seams extend slightly beyond the edge. Wondering if that serves a function, or if it’s more of a design feature. It could just be that the pieces are manufactured that way.

Interesting that this layout doesn't match the Barnhouse+ plans that are available on the website. Looks like the living area was augmented to add a 3rd bedroom, move a bath and turn one bath into the laundry room. Were those changes to the plans made by Den or did he change them prior to the build?
