Train to Fix Medical Equipment | Biomedical Equipment Technology

Biomedical Technicians are often overlooked in the healthcare field. As Regina says, someone needs to make sure that medical equipment not only works, but functions at its peak performance.

At Centura College, the Biomedical Equipment Technology program introduces students to a wide variety of skills including the install, testing and calibrating of medical equipment, repairing and replacing parts associated with medical equipment, and performing preventive maintenance and servicing medical equipment.

Coursework includes foundations in electronics, basic networking, biomedical instrumentation, basic anatomy and physiology, and biomedical troubleshooting and repair.

I recently joined the biomedical equipment servicing industry and I'm absolutely loving it. There are thousands of equipment varieties so everyday is different.

I have 10 years in this field. I would highly recommend carefully looking at the pros and cons of this field. Its not for everyone. There is very little career progression in this field. So if your ok, just working on the same equipment for years and years to come then its fine, but if you want to work on specialized equipment and get specialized training, than you better learn some good jokes quick. Computer science, networking and cyber security is a way better option, at least for me 😉
