The beauty of staying in the Philippines without getting dual citizenship but only as permanent resident is you are still under the consular protection of your country of citizenship and can help evacuate you if something serious happen in the Philippines (case in point Afganistan US citizen evacuation)....pag dual ka may excuse sila na hindi ka tulungan.

Attorney I am natural born Filipino. I served and retired in the United States Navy. I acquired my U.S. Citizenship while serving. My application for dual citizenship was denied at Philippine Consulate Los Angeles Ca. due the fact that I served with the U.S. Armed Forces. Is there a Immigration Law that applies to my situation, disqualifying me for attaining dual citizenship? They did not provide me any reference to prove that I am not entitled.
