Glad that after about 10-15 years of the media and casuals calling him a “bust”, people understand that it isn’t the right way to refer to awful injury luck

I really hate watching that Tik-Tok of the little granny asking him if he was an NBA basketball player. You can see the pain that he still suffers when remembering his NBA career. I hope he understands most real NBA fans know that he wasn't a bust more than just bad luck with injuries.

Dude had enormous potential that his own body seemed to want to subvert every which way. Shame injuries turned him into just “the guy taken right before KD”. A lot of people are gonna call Oden a bust, but when your own anatomy fails you at the scale his did, I genuinely don’t think that’s at all fair. Glad he finished college and is at least in a better place situationally and mentally

Injuries doesn't equal bust imo. Things like that are out of anyone's hands.

Even KD himself said that Oden was not a bust. He was a great player who got injured a lot. That's not a bust. A disappointment, yes, but not a bust. He was actually great when he was healthy. I believe he could be an all-star (& maybe a DPOY or two) by now if he wasn't hurt all of the time.

He went back to school and finished his degree and put it to good use
which is more than you can say about many

Greg Oden is in that special "You just want to give the guy a hug" category of athletes.

With his talent and work ethic, he probably thrives on any team that didn't have a notoriously underfunded medical staff.

I always felt bad for Oden, he seems like a really good guy who just couldn’t catch a break…he never ran from the bust talk and always stood up and answered questions I personally hope he’s living his best life and has left this part of his life in the past🙏💯

Who else is here after watching that sad YouTube short where a granny asks him do you play basketball 😢

He was a good number 1 pick! People’s forget that the trio of Aldridge, Roy and Oden were 52-10 all time! Injuries derailed probably a really good career!

I met him in a mall after he got drafted. Pretty nice dude, signed autographs for me and my buddies. Shame his career didn’t pan out

I’m a blazer fan and every time I listen to this story (which it never gets old to me and love watching a new video every time someone puts one out) It always makes me wonder why it happened again to us like so weird that it never happened to any other franchise besides ours(blazers) and a generational player was picked right after our pick… just so fascinating 🧐

I'll never forget how big Oden and Conley were in Indiana in the early 2000s. I live in Indianapolis and graduated high school a couple years before Oden. It was such a tragedy to see his career end because of injuries. It was great to see Conley have a successful career. I can't even finish this video, it's too hard to watch one of the saddest NBA stories again.

I hate that Oden labeled himself a bust. A lot could’ve been learned from Oden and handling health, and possibly has with how Embiid was handled in PA. Injuries might leave us feeling let down, but that’s not a bust. Playing more than 5 years and regressing on your shooting, that’s busting.

My dad and two younger brothers met him in San Jose. In a restaurant, can’t recall which one, but they got an autograph and picture. Oden told them, “thank you for knowing who I am.” Damn, poor guy.

Man I just feel so terrible for the guy. He was NOT a bust at all when he was healthy, but tragically that was almost never the case. Greg, you're definitely not the biggest bust in history.

Nice to hear that he went back to school to finish his degree. I always kind of felt bad for him, he seems to be doing well now so that’s nice.
