No, you cannot solve the Molecube like a Rubik's Cube or solve a Rubik's Cube like the Molecube. Molecube is composed of nine different colors of spheres distributed over six sides of a cube. Instead of arranging the colors by side like in a Rubik’s Cube, your goal is to have one piece of every color represented on each side. Molecube does not have enough pieces of each color to fill a side with a single color; Rubik's Cube does not have enough different colors.

I have one and it is by far an extremely captivating puzzle. Both by it's solution and by the clicking sound. It is definitely worth to buy it!

My mom got me this for Christmas and I thought it was just like a normal Rubio cube so I sat in my room trying to figure it out but then I counted the colors and was confused why there was 9 colors so I looked it up and now I'm finding this

To all the commenters thinking you can, you can't use this as a regular Rubi*k's* Cube. This is because each side has nine balls on it, but there are only two or three balls of each color, so it is impossible to fill up any side. Also, each ball that isn't a center affects two or more sides (an edge exists on two sides) at a time, so it is impossible for two adjacent sides to have completely different colors. Imagine trying to make two adjacent sides completely different colors (which has already been shown to be impossible, since there aren't nine balls of any color). This is impossible, due to there being two corners and an edge (which each are one color) existing on both of the two sides.

You can't solve a regular Rubik's Cube like a Molecube, either, because you can't change what stickers each piece has. A red, white, and green corner will always be red, white, and green since the entire piece can only move as one, and pieces can't swap stickers (unless you peel stickers, which defeats the purpose). Also, a Rubik's Cube has only six colors, while each side has nine stickers, so it's impossible to have one of each color on every side, since there aren't enough colors.

If you still don't believe me, try to solve the Molecube to have each side be a different color. Or, try to solve a Rubik's cube to have only one of each color on each side. Good luck.

"The pieces satisfyingly turn and click."

As a cuber, I can assure you that this is the opposite of a selling point.
