I still love my Anytone 878 and especially my new $25 TIDRADIO H3 that I can quickly program with my phone

Regarding aesthetics, build quality, UI, battery life, speaker volume, modulation and ease of use I'd go ICOM all day long.

But C4FM easily beats D-Star in my book. The only viable solution: I chose both. ☺️

The ICOM aesthetic looks like a design from the 80's...

Have you noticed the “B” sub channel is very sensitive? I have the sql set to 5 and it still opens with static. The main side is great on the same frequencies with sql set to auto.

I have both here, both are great radios. But I always have a preference for the Icom user interface and for the D-Star digital mode over C4FM, so… ID-52 Plus it is (for me at least 😂).

But the FT-5D has some really nice features: more compact, it’s shipped with the fast-release belt clip (Yaesu has always been very creative since this revolutionary clip they offered with the VX-7R!) and, more importantly, reception range of this HT is gigantic! Not that I often listen to HF from an HT, but the mere fact that it’s possible makes it fun 😂

73 and thanks for the videos!! 😊

Called it! The mold in the original 52 was obviously in the shape of Type-C. They clearly planned for it. Very lame that it was commonly available when that radio was released but still used micro or mini (can't remember) to have an 'upgrade path'. Absolute bad faith move by ICOM.

C4FM over Dstar, but the 52A has the better screen. What is on the screen looks much better too. I own all Yaesu HT's right now, but the new 52 wins in every other way than the outdated Dstar. Never understood why Yaesu went with a smaller screen aftet the Ft-2. I sold my 5 and got a few 2's.

System fusion is way easier to use than d star. I just really like yaesu radios anyway.

I’ll trade you my rfinder b1 plus for that Icom.

I don't care for system fusion and I don't care for dstar I do like DMR. In the best radio I've come across so far other than a Motorola, what is my tyt MDU v380 running the open GD 77 firmware. It takes a $100 radio and turns it into a $600 or $700 radio.
