NASA and SpaceX postpone historic Demo-2 mission due to bad weather | FULL

NASA and SpaceX officially postponed the first crewed space mission from U.S. soil since 2001 on Wednesday afternoon, after inclement weather resulted in the launch being scrubbed about 17 minutes before ignition (04:15:55).

Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken were to lift off in SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule on May 27 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the International Space Station (ISS) at 4:33 p.m. ET. The launch has now been postponed until Saturday, May 30.

The mission was to mark SpaceX's historic first in carrying humans and should the launch, now planned for Saturday, go ahead, it will be the company's climactic test before NASA can certify its Crew Dragon capsule for regular operational flights.

The "new space taxi" is on a mission planned to last more than a month to help the short-handed crew aboard the International Space Station, the U.S. space agency said.
