At 6:36 It is Isaac's mother and father in the sketch, Isaac fantasises about killing his FATHER AND MOTHER, thanks for the hundred comments pointing this out to me till today hahaha

His dad was an alcoholic who spent all of their savings on alcohol. There’s an item called dads lost coin and it closely resembles that of a coin given out during alcohol anonymous meetings. His mom even asks if he’s drunk which he angrily replies her to shut up

It was confirmed by Edmund Mcmillen that the narrator is Isaac’s dad

Edmund confirmed that Isaac is actually only 5 years old

my thoughts on the final ending is that the story that Isaac told was altered by Isaacs dad into a more positive way. but the tainted versions are the true characters that Isaac himself intended to create.

If isaac indeed died, and the narrator is his father, maybe isaac is in heaven, and his father died and is trying to explain to isaac where is he right now, he wants to explain him that his story does not have to be sad anymore, that he can have a happy ending, that being a way for him to say, a happy enternal life

For those saying that Issac “fantasizes” about offing his parents please just quickly look up and learn about intrusive thoughts. They’re thoughts that are what they sound like, intrusive, meaning you don’t want them. You cannot control having these thoughts and they can be very dark or wrong. These do not reflect the person, nor is it what the person “secretly wants” it’s actually very scary. They’re intrusive because you don’t like them. So he doesn’t fantasize about it, he has these thoughts because he thinks that he’s a monster who might hurt people. Intrusive thoughts are commonly found in people with depression, anxiety, and OCD. Which it might seem like Issac might have.

I would bet that the "lack of clothes" is metaphorical for lack of privacy, it displays how vulnerable Isaac feels.

I think the cat is more like a reference to schrödingers cat refering that we dont know if isaac is alive or dead until the chest is Opened

I think it's important to not draw too many inferences about McMillan's real life from the plotline. He has stated that the primary ways in which his life experiences influenced BoI is that he was raised in an environment that was riddled with addiction and an unhealthy, extremist faith that caused him guilt and mental anguish. Beyond that, we should probably not take Binding of Isaac as autobiographical, even in an allegorical sense.
Plenty of writers draw upon real life experiences in fiction without that fiction being a mirror into their actual lives. McMillan has an obvious love for the macabre, violent, taboo, scatological and weird from his other works, so it's likely that those elements are just part of the narrative because he enjoys drawing them.

went back and I noticed that when his dad says for the story to have a happy ending he starts the story with "Isaac and his parents lived in a small house on the top of the hill."

this is a unique theory I haven't heard before, one small detail that I think it's harder is at 6:37 it doesn't seem to be the demon killing his mother and him, but his mother and father, possibly a subconscious way of him blaming himself for his family falling apart.

One thing I like about this game is that it's not demonizing religion itself. It's demonizing mental and physical abuse under the guise of religious zealotry. Its demonizing taking your beliefs too far, to the degree that you hurt those close to you. It shows the effect it has on your family and their health and that's good to show instead of saying point blank all religion is bad.

My only complaint is that the drawing of isaac and mom dead is actually isaac standing over his mom and dad. He fantasized about killing his parents for what they did to him.

I think the ending means that Isaac's father was able to take custody of him after everything he went through. That's what him suggesting a happy ending means to me. Its like a road to recovery in a way. Just my guess though.

9:13 I think that on the last drawing you can see Isaac's parents dead which confirms the fact that Isaac thought he ruined his family (as his mother told him)

6:36 I think it's not isaac but his dad as he seems to have hair and a mustache

Here is an interesting thing, the boss "Dogma" has a cross in the end it's name
If you see the cross as letter "I"
The reverse of this boss's name is Iamgod

The argument clips from the return trip to Home really hits me hard. As a child of divorce, I remember those arguments like they were yeserday... and the nights I had to sleep though them...
