Jed! Personal trainer here, love the vid and transformation!! Couple things:

When bulking usually 500 calories above maintenance is a good threshold. When eating much more than that the weight you’re gaining is likely fat. I’d encourage you to track your weight daily, and then assess after a few weeks if you’re putting on weight (1-2lbs/wk) and if not, then increase calories.

As far as protein intake goes, you’re looking solid. 1 gram per lb/body weight is a good goal, but when bulking you can actually eat less protein due to the overall caloric surplus. Studies show there’s marginal returns after 0.8grams per/lb BW. So, if dropping the protein intake and getting more carbs or fats into your diet helps you meet your caloric goals, go for it!

I know it’s good for the sake of a 30 day transformation video, but lifting 5 days/wk can be a lot, both mentally and for the body. If you love that routine, good, keep going! But also, don’t be afraid to put another rest day in there if that helps you stay consistent and feeling fresh. Hitting each muscle group 2X a week is the sweet spot for gains/recovery.

This video is very misleading to beginner lifters. If you are new then let me say this. You will not make this much progress in a month. This guy is already in decent shape before this challenge and he was bigger in the past which made it easier for him to gain back muscle. Don't be discouraged if you don't see as much result in your first months, stay disciplined and patient.
