The chain inside is a great tip! I've always used nuts and bolts but it makes sense for the chain to come out as 1 piece

When I pick up an old car from the field or Barn. I will usually put about 3 gallons of diesel ⛽ in it. As I'm hauling it back home it can splash around inside the tank and soften it up. Then it's sitting there working at it while I'm letting the vehicle set. But the chain is a great follow-up. I've actually got a flexible shaft wire brush that I'll use. Of course that requires a little bit more disassemble of the tank.

My tanks had gas sitting for 13 years. Completely lacquered up, and now empty but lots stuck to the bottom. Any recommendations to loosen old lacquered gas?

Strap it to a cement mixer for 30 mins or so to save your energy

Don't put chain you take a Chace it getting knotted up unles its real short piece

Get serious, get yourself phosphoric acid and dilute it 12 to 1 with water, make sure the tank is dried out, fill with solution and let sit for about 6-12 hrs, your welcome
