Can we talk about the misconception that autistic people don't need any help (the thought that people with "Aspergers" are just quirky and smart and couldn't possibly need accommodations). I've had people say I have been "fine" most of my life and should still be ok...yet I've been secretly struggling since day one and didn't get my diagnosis until I was 36.

The misconception that irritates me the most is, "Autistic people can't feel empathy." Do the people who say this know how much I hate seeing other people cry?

My autistic boyfriend is very romantic, and I adore it. He's amazing.

I was once told by a (formerly) close friend that I couldn't be A*tistic because we were best friends, and an A*tistic person wouldn't be capable of having that kind of relationship. That's gotta be the most painful stereotype about A*tisim I've ever encountered.

(I apologize for censoring A*tisim. I don't want my comment to get deleted by YouTube, if they decide that's an "offensive" word.)

Can you please make a video about the terms hyperfixation and special interests? People on tiktok have been using these terms incorrectly.

AANE is an absolutely fantastic resource for autistic people and their families. They really went above and beyond with helping me when I inquired about doctors who specialize. Seriously, from my one little question they sent me back a HUGE wealth of information and were more helpful than I had ever anticipated! They were so so nice too! I highly recommend them! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Yes! aro/ace acknowledgement!! I’m on both, (and possibly autistic, finally pursuing a diagnosis now) that would mean I’m on three a-spectrums

Im fine as long as it's not "an autistic" or "has autism"

I usually say "autistic person"

I found your channel through Nathaniel Bandy a few days ago, and I find your content really interesting! Your videos provide a lot of great perspective, and I’m enjoying following along with them.

Some people think it's mean to joke about autism and it can be but it's usually not when the autistic person is telling the joke because well there are lots of funny things about autism

A further misconception being that the puzzle piece is a symbol for autism when it absolutely is *not*, at least now. The National Autistic Society in the UK originated it in the 1960s, true, but no longer use it and are aware of the harm it causes [Even though some of the NAS groups were called Puzzle Pieces until very recently].

Your English is terrible. There isn't such a word as "autistics". The word autistic is an adjective and not also a noun.
