STEELY DAN/GUITAR CHORDS with LYRICS /TUTORIAL #15- (Fifteenth one)

Thanks in advance for letting me know which gender I interact with within the comment section
(especially when the thumbnails and names are not obvious to distinguish.) And I'm always curious to know from which area of this big "blue house" you are. (I'm from MTL, Québec, CDN). Respect.

The best way for playing those fast & difficult/advanced guitar chord progressions in my tutorial videos is to STOP & PLAY and look at subtle details in-between chord changes.
But especially PRACTICING at 0.75% PLAYBACK SPEED option (YouTube setting ICON )
IT is INCREDIBLY PRACTICAL and AWESOME by the fact that it doesn't change the pitch.

Playing STEELY DAN songs, in general, are pretty challenging! It may take you a while before being able to play & master all those 20 to 40 + chords & voicing changes (average) with ease,
but one thing's sure is that these animations will help you save a lot of time.

With so much density in their writing, combined with highly intricate harmonies,
learning STEELY DAN songs, in general, will improve your guitar skills and make you
a more centered and knowledgeable musician.

BTW! These animations are based on the way I play them.
I try to keep the chords changes (90% + of them in between the first 4 frets)
as close as possible, but there are many other ways you can interpret them.
Hopefully, mine will be a good starting point for you all.

I purposely try to keep 90% of the chord changes as close as possible * between the first 4 frets, and try to emulate the piano too.
but in the end, there are many other ways you can interpret them. Hopefully, mine will be a good starting point for you all.

This is a superb lesson. Accurate chords, chord diagrams, visual play along. What more could you ask for?

I was expecting to see 150k plus views or more. This, by far, is the best tutorial for me to learn. Thank you very much!

wow - GREAT video. I cannot believe how hard some of these Dan songs are. Now I don't feel so bad that I could not figure them out on my own :)
Also, as someone who hasn't memorized all the notes on the fretboard yet - really appreciate you outlining the root so I can help construct the chord in my brain

I’m new to guitar and having a ton of trouble understanding what’s going on. Anyone have some recommendations?

This is an impressive undertaking. I hope everyone realizes how difficult this is to do. You're really Larry Carlton aren't you?

A very good visualization of the material. Absolutely helpful. - I believe the the Ab6 should maybe be an Ab7(13) (so that we maintain dominant sound on this substitute). - Many thanks for this post.

Awesome playing and brilliant visual tutorial.
Recently worked out the bass for this, which is an awesome Chuck Rainey groove.
Great stuff !
Had to do something about the demonic sub number, so I'm sub 323.

Wow. Incredible stuff. May I humbly request "Walk Between the Raindrops" from Donald Fagan's "The Nightfly" ? I've always loved Larry Carlton's fills on that song.

So this guitar work are the piano chords of Donald’s in that the guitar work of Home at Last is Larry Carlton’s sneaky rhythm chords and the lead is some of the best work of Walter’s l’ve heard.

That's really pretty cool. It's a manual process I suppose? Nothing automated?

this is just the piano chords on guitar, ignoring the actual guitar parts?
