pH vs pKa is like a battle between solution and molecule for a proton. If pH is higher than pKa, solution wins the proton. If the pKa is higher than the pH, the molecule wins the proton.

i saw that the pI of cysteine is 5.07 and now i'm so confused. does this mean it is usually deprotonated at physiological pH? cause pH>pI means the molecule is mostly deprotonated. right? does anyone know? i've watched so many youtube videos looking for the answer.
