No! She was not unpopular, it was thing that the free part of the greek nation disliked like the fact that the king was papist and the queen a prot reigning in a deeply orthodox nation (orthodoxy was and it is a matter of identity for the greek nation) and the fact that she could not bear any children (she was suffering by a rare syndrome) but the whole thing of the eviction was a british plot and initiation and nothing else to punish Otto for his pro-russian position in the Crimean War.
